Meet Everett! Everett is the sole survivor of what I can only describe as hell on earth. Everett as you can see in these pictures is very emaciated and his back legs are paralyzed. He is also heartworm positive. He is a older fella, around 10 years old, and has no doubt lived in misery for some time now. He is currently in the care of Love Linked Dogs in Manchester, TN. The vets recommendation was to euthanize Everett right away. Andrea Ahlijah, the president of Loved Linked Dogs refused to do this to Everett as she felt, and I 100% agree with her, that Everett did not survive hell only to be dropped off at the vet to die. The vet had said in his condition he would never survive heartworm treatment. Andrea had decided she would take him home and give him all the love and attention he could stand for the weekend. She would take him swimming, she would feed him hamburgers and hotdogs, she would put him in a stroller and take him for walks but most of all she would hold him, love him. She would make sure he knew he was special. She had planned, on the advise of the vet, to take Everett to be PTS on Monday. This was not a easy decision but she was not going to be selfish and let Everett suffer any longer. Well as you can imagine, Everett has won her heart over and he is proving he has the will to live. He seems to have some movement in his legs as well. So the new plan is to get a second opinion and pray that Everett can in fact be saved and live out his life as a old, stubborn but extremely loved family member.
