Meeting of the Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian with the Foreign Minister of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius On October 24 Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius who paid an official visit to Yerevan. Welcoming the guest, Edward Nalbandian noted: “I must state with satisfaction that the ties between Armenia and Lithuania experience a dynamic development. We have established embassies in both of our capitals. The number of mutual visits on different levels has considerably increased. And we are interested in keeping the upwards dynamics of the consistent development of the Armenian-Lithuanian relations. All this gives us an opportunity to state with confidence that henceforth the ties between Armenia and Lithuania will continue deepening and expanding.” Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception Minister Linkevičius noted that Lithuania makes efforts to widen relations with friendly Armenia as much as possible, and this meeting is a good opportunity to move the bilateral agenda forward. At the meeting the two Ministers discussed a wide range of issues including the bilateral political dialogue, economic relations, educational and cultural ties, enhancement of the legal framework, as well as touched upon Armenia-EU relations. The Minister stated with gratitude that Lithuania belongs to the number of states who have officially recognized the Armenian Genocide. In this context Edward Nalbandian said that the recognition of the Genocide by the Lithuanian Seimas once again demonstrated the commitment of the Lithuanian people to the universal irrefutable human values and justice. Edward Nalbandian presented to Linas Linkevičius the efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs towards the exclusively peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. The Ministers also discussed a number of pressing issues on the regional and international agenda. They touched upon the Ukrainian crisis, the ongoing distressing developments in the Middle East.
