Merry Christmas everyone! Celebrating the solstice historicaly - TopicsExpress

Merry Christmas everyone! Celebrating the solstice historicaly was usually done by drying amanitas on the bows of the yew trees in Germanic pagan culture (like how we decorate trees now) A shaman or medicine man would bring these to share with the village (Santa). Saint Nicholas was still an actual person but that story came from a little farther north in Europe. Dispite fairly strong evidence that the baby Jesus was actually born in summer, it suited converting pagan cultures to Christianity after Roman conquests like st. Patrick driving the snakes (paganism) from Ireland, to set the most indoctrinating holiday of the new conquerors (he is the way, the truth and the light for you or youre playing on a different team). Now aside from that historical context, I really dont see anyone with Jesus actions to support closed minded or uncompassionate attitude towards the gifts of unique outlooks on the world. I see what the stories in the bible tell about him as a spirit that brought amazing things out in the world; particularly the ability to bring everyone together to appreciate what we do have. Even if its not exactly what we wanted, it is perfect and this world is amazing if we build our eyes to see it. Now that is worth celebrating and that is beauty! That is what Im willing to celebrate! I dont need gifts of any material but taking the blessing of just being around family and homies to make my heart sing? Thats whats gonna bring me out of bed in the morning! So cheers to all of you and nothing but love cause the people I see on the day to day are what is gonna be the light that can accomplish anything. Merry Christmas everyone
