Message from Dr Laz, A number of you have ‘inboxed’ me asking for the full list of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) National Executive Committee (NEC). Due to the demand, as evidenced by your messages, I would like to clarify the following: a. That I, in consultation with Vice Presidents, the Secretary General, the Treasurer General, the Regional and District Chairpersons have not yet completed the process of selecting members into the NEC as mandated by the National Convention held at Natural Resources College (NRC) earlier this August 2013 As a party, we believe in diversity and inclusivity which cannot be achieved within a short period of time looking at the diverse membership of the party from Chitipa to Nsanje; Nkhotakota to Mchinji In coming up with the NEC, some of the issues I and the whole team involved are looking for is to have a NEC that reflects the composition of the party’s membership in areas like: • Gender • Age: youth blended with the veterans • and other inclusive factors Note that MCP being a National Party, the NEC selection will not be made based on region, religion, physical dis/ability and tribe or any form of discrimination. Nobody will be discriminated along those lines. The NEC will represent the aspirations of the Reborn MCP and the New Malawi where all people live side by side in advancing the agenda of the founding fathers of the mighty MCP and this great nation. Once again, the complete formation of the MCP NEC is not my sole responsibility. It is a consultative process. When all is done, the names will be made public.
