Mid Ulster Youth League, U17 Result Moyola Park, sponsored by Henry Brothers (Magherafelt) Ltd v Coagh 28 September 2013 Moyola’s U17 team, sponsored by Henry Brothers Ltd, took on neighbours Coagh at Mill Park Tobermore. Moyola’s first half display was probably their best of their season so far. On the front foot from the start early chances fell to McElhatton and Doyle but both failed to convert. A Darragh free-kick from 25yards was goal bound only the keeper got a strong hand to clear but Moyola finally took the lead in their next attack. A through pass to McElhatton just inside the penalty area saw the winger chip the ball over the stranded keeper into the empty net from 12 yards. Five minutes later and the Moyola lads extended their advantage. An Evans cross from the right was neatly controlled by Flanagan and with his second touch the striker stroked the ball into the far corner. On the twenty minute mark Moyola strolled into a three nil lead when Flanagan again found himself on the end of McGrogan clearance and calmly finished. McGrogan then found himself free at a corner but his glancing header from the set piece just floated past the upright. Half-time: 3-0 The first half may have been rather one-sided but the second proved to be a more contested game. Coagh came out with much more attacking formation, a change which Moyola failed to cope with, and which saw the visitors grab two quick goals to leave the game on a knife edge. With Coagh attacking in numbers they were always susceptible to the pace of the Moyola break and with Moyola desperately needed someone to step up to the mark there was no one better than their own captain. Darragh found himself chasing a ball out to the left touch-line pursued by two defenders and brilliantly turned and beat them both to burst to the corner of the penalty area and strike an unstoppable shot which nestled in the top corner. Moyola then extended their lead as Flanagan completed his hatrick. Flanagan then set up strike partner McElhatton for his second of the game. He rounded the onrushing keeper inside the six yard box and passed the ball back from the bye-line for McElhatton to slot the ball home from a few yards. A fantastic display from a Moyola team which have much more to offer as they progress this season together. Full-time: 6-3
