The primary cause is Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) / Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). What no one knows, not even my wife, is how many mornings I woke-up wandering if that day was my turn to become a suicide statistic. PTS/TBI causes unexpected bouts of “severe depression” that advance to feelings of “utter despair” to thoughts of “suicide”, particularly during the Holidays. These events can wash over you like a tidal wave and render the strongest person emotionally helpless. PTS/TBI requires professional intervention and treatment.
