Misleading reading - there actually ARE 9 (yes, NINE 9) Coal Exploration Permits granted, ranging in expiry dates from 8/15 to 2/20. Including 4 listed as renewal lodged. Lawrence Springborg is playing semantics with words - there are indeed no existing mining leases (which I would imagine cover permits for extraction) What there are, are EPCs - Coal Exploration Permits. Yes, a different fish, but still fishy. And a forerunner to the granting of permits to extract no doubt, if enough of the right sort of coal is discovered. Despite your dismissal and plea to get back to the real issues facing the Southern Downs Mr Springborg, with respect, your words are misleading at best. No leases, but there are permits to explore. WDN - Its unbelievable that concerned locals have been misled by dreadful and malicious comment by some, he said. Well, MR Springborg, comment is healthy, information spreading is healthy when it is done transparently, and the health of the people in this region could well depend on these comments about mining coming out into the public arena as they are doing now. No one wants malicious comment on such a serious issue. So, I suggest we all take a big deep breath, have a cuppa and get back to the real issues locally - some of which unfortunately do in fact involve coal mining locally (Goomburra to start with) And thats certainly not a furphy either, Mr Springborg. warwickdailynews.au/news/Mine-rumours-false-says-Lawrence-Springborg/2522378/
