Missouri Department of Social Services Job Opportunity Assistant Communications Director We are searching for an individual to support our multi-faceted communications and public information activities designed to provide vital human service information to Missourians. Responsibilities include: execution of a strategic communication plan to support the department’s mission, goals and objectives; support of organizational initiatives and developing communication materials and programs to promote and publicize these activities internally and externally; responding to media inquiries for information; coordinating with others to define talking points for media communications; optimizing and updating web content; and, building and fostering working relationships with the press, members of the community, public affairs offices and other organizations. QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates will have the ability to design and deliver presentation; write and edit news releases and informational materials; coordinate communication activities and work with staff at all levels. State government experience and knowledge of new media is preferred. Desired qualifications include a degree with specialization in communications, public relations, marketing or journalism, and three years experience in media relations or public relations.
