Mom memory #7 My parents hosted many exchange students over the years. The first time they hosted more than one at a time, it was a boy from Norway and a girl from Hungary. One of their first days at our home, my mom sat them down and told them to think of themselves as siblings for the year. She did not want to have to deal with setting boundaries around a physical relationship, and she especially did not want the drama if they broke up and were living together. Their English was decent, but not yet fluent. It took the students a minute to understand what she was saying. Once they realized what she was saying, their faces turned bright red. Lani was never one to shy away from difficult conversations.
