Monday 1.27.14 Mark 3:20-30 usccb.org/bible/readings Sin against the Holy Spirit Jesus asserted his authority to cast out demons as a clear demonstration that God’s kingdom has come. However, Christ also warns us of the “unforgivable sin” that we must avoid – the sin against the Holy Spirit. Why is this sin so terrible? Because it is blaspheming against God! A sin can only be unforgivable if one refuses to repent. There are no limits to God’s mercy, but anyone who denies the Lord’s forgiveness, mercy, and healing is guilty of the unforgivable sin. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, God enables us to live a new life of love and freedom from slavery to sin. Do you take refuge in the Lord and allow him to be the ruler in your life? The Lord be with you.
