High winds downed numerous trees, and several streets in Grand Rapids were blocked by falling trees. ------ Your Regional Forecast Discussion: Good afternoon everyone! We’ve had a lovely stretch of weather along the Lakeshore, but tonight we might receive some much-needed rain via showers and thunderstorms. NWS GRR is expecting a line of storms to develop over IL/WI within the next two hours and begin its motion toward us. The main threats it will likely pose to us include damaging winds and large hail; isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out either. This line will be triggered by a cold front sweeping through the Lower Peninsula overnight. Following the storms, northerly wind from a Canadian high pressure system will begin funneling in. Tonight our skies will start out mostly cloudy, and after the frontal passage will empty to mostly clear. Our wind pattern will shift from south-southwest to northerly with speeds ranging from the teens through low 20s mph. Gusts into the low 30s mph are possible, likely around precipitation time. We likely will see between 0.1-0.2” of rain by Wednesday morning, but I’d imagine on the shorter side of that range. Low temps will be hit around 5 AM from the high 50s in Ludington to the mid-60s in Holland. If any severe weather materializes, as always we’ll do our best to provide you with the latest updates! Enjoy your evening and have a great rest of your Tuesday!
