More Good News For Claremorris! Claremorris Tennis Club Claremorris Tennis Club is delighted to announce that it received €70,000 of funding towards the resurfacing of the courts yesterday. “Delighted” is an understatement of the actual feelings of all the people involved. This is a big step in the life of the club and one that will be remembered as much as the steps taken to move the courts or to build the new clubhouse. The resurfacing will help bring the club to new heights. Our facilities will be as good as the best in the country. It will help attract new members to the club and to bring back old members who had fallen away from tennis. It is our strong focus to increase the membership of the club for the benefit of the club. Yesterday’s announcement can only be received as GREAT news. A special word of thanks must be given to Michael Ring, Minister of State for Tourism and Sport. He supported our application right from the start and showed great enthusiasm towards this project. There is also a need to thank all of the public representatives in the area. John O’Mahony TD and Cllr Tom Connelly who worked hard behind the scenes and Cllr Richard Finn who was a main sponsor for our night at the dog racing track. Since the start of this project the club has engaged in a very successful fundraising drive. This did not happen without significant help from a lot of people. The fundraising committee, the people selling tickets, the people collecting money at the church gates / bucket collections all deserve special thanks. When asked, everybody put there shoulder to the wheel and everyone involved was part of the team that helped to get us to yesterdays announcement. The people of Claremorris who contributed again and again require a special word of thanks. Thanks also go to the local businesses. Although the recession is hitting hard they have supported our club through the years and it is much appreciated. These are exciting times for Claremorris Tennis Club! Thanks to all!
