IT JUST IS We pray not to fall But it is what we most desire We are not meant to be alone The risk of love is so high Yet, we fiend for it Like the worst of intoxicants We yearn to be held To hold hands and laugh To exchange glances And share secrets hidden from the world We want him to love us only Never to stray So we work hard To maintain Who we are Outside Hoping he likes our inside Want her to love us with understanding and hope that she knows we are tired of running That she knows If the world was within our means She would have it We hope for all that makes us feel Warm Fuzzy Happy We want something special Spooning in the night Beaming through the day Wanting to impress him with domestic capability Wanting to cover her Hoping she receives Hoping she returns the favor Each time we fall we fight pessimism We try to be hopeful That this one is the one That it won’t hurt Too much Like the last one We risk pride and run to Hoping this is the finish line Until the finish line is reached Envisioning gray hair And holding wrinkled hands Happily ever after Or at least just long enough to say Wow! That’s what love is! Diving in, knowing that to love is risk Wondering if the object of our affection Understands that love is just not so difficult It just is Love by Nadira Norjahan
