More than 110-year-old tomb that lies on the S R Nagar is in great hope by the coming of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited.. The magnificent stone building which constructed in 1902 is the tomb of Nawab Fakhr-ul-Mulk, former minister of Nizam. The elevated Metro rail, which is designed to launch by 2015 passes near the tomb. It is expected that a new landmark will be added in the heritage of Hyderabad. Nawab also constructed the Errum Manzil Manzil, the palace. Nawab was buried there after his demise in 1934. His descendants were also buried near to his maqbara. The story of tomb has the resemblance with TajMahal story. He made the tomb in memory of his wife. He used to spend every evening in this Tomb. Erected on 2 acres of land the structure is symbol of tomb architecture in Hyderabad. It is also marked as the last major monument to be constructed in the Qutub Shahi Tombs Revival style of architecture. Constructed from stone, lime stone and sand, the tomb is quite modest but imposing at the same time. “By the coming of the Metro rail we are expecting more recognition for the monument. The contributions Nawab as a finance minister in Nizam’s rule is quite significant” says Abbas, the great grandson of Nawab. Major portion of the heritage sites are private properties. It is around 70 %. The government has no role in the maintenance of the monument. They provide a receiver to look after all the wealth of Fakhr-ul- Mulk in the city.
