Morning Pals! I have heard about how people have, over the ages, emphasised the need to read as much as possible and how, if you want to it hide from him, put information in a book and a Black Man will not find it - SAD, REALLY SAD. First of all I do not subscribe to stereo-typing so all of that talk is Nonsense to me. There are a lot of black people who read mountains of book everyday every where, some of them have even authored countless books so please shut up. That said, I read something that provoked me into doing todays post, And I beg your pardon - if there are any of you who follow my posts, for taking a brief break. Olubanke King Akerele, a Liberian politician and diplomat who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the cabinet of Africas first female President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf from October 2007 until her resignation on 3 November 2010, recently launched a book here in Zambia - ‘THE GROWING OF AFRICA’S EMERGENT LEADERSHIP. One of the things she said is African leaders have no choice but to seriously invest in youth development if the continent is transform its economic prowess. The statement Blew my head away as I think about how Important You are to the continent. Do you see yourself as someone whose contributions have a Continental bearing? Well, You should. I realised that she was once in school, jobless, broke, in a relationship, heart broken, hungry, tired, clueless, afraid and so many other things - Just like you, and look where she is now. Listen and please listen good. You, if you put your mind to it have the answers to this continents problems but have to develop a habit of making the right decisions and spending less time doing useless things that simply waste your precious time - and by the way, time is borrowed, so invest it wisely otherwise you will pay dearly. It is time that young people started to view themselves as leaders now. Forget the you are the future Leaders tag. The future begins today. The series of choices you have made have led to to this moment of reading this text here, likewise the ones you will make henceforth will either land you in that seat of leadership or lingering in the streets for the rest of your life. If you like this, even by One Percent, Please Like it and Invite Your Friends and Get in touch with me and let us, together, develop a strong network of intergenerational integration with the Older generation if we are to be wise about international investment, which if not the sole solution, plays a tremendous role to our contribution to the continent’s success. Let us embrace the Veterans. On the ocassion of this years Youth Day, celebrate love, achievement, friendship, family, work, school, community, peace, literature, prospects and, planning. But above and before all else Return to and stay with GOD. To the love of my youth Jenny Banda, God bless you - I love your shamelessly. Until tommorow, happy reading. Ciao!
