Most everybody, including myself, believes police lives matter. When officers die, there are parades and national outcry, and their murderers are killed or prosecuted. The problem is, when police kill unarmed people, those lives often dont matter. I am not referencing any particular event. There is less justice, there is less accountability. This is a systemic problem, and it needs to be addressed. This doesnt mean most officers are bad and unjust people. Distracting from this issue by imagining most people take police lives for granted is dishonest, and its warrantless paranoia, like the imagined war on Christmas. It is a huge false equivalency. I have the most respect for the job most officers in this country do every day, and when an officer dies in the line of duty, it is a tragedy. I believe police lives matter. I believe ALL lives matter.
