Move of the day: barbell skull crushers - triceps This is an exercise that can be done with a barbell, dumbbells, kettlebells, and even a medicine ball. In this video, we are using a barbell on a bench. When performing this exercise on a bench, be sure to have you feet firmly planted on the floor. This will support your back and head throughout the move. If you are vertically challenged, its okay if youre entire body is not touching the bench (lower body, not upper) in order to keep your feet planted. Hold the barbell so that your hands are gripping in with a narrower grip than you would use with a press. The narrower the grip, the more the tricep is isolated and engaged. Keep the bar fully extended so that the arms are perpendicular to the body. This is the starting position. Bend your elbows so that they point towards your feet and lower the weight to your head. Extend the weight to the starting position. Repeat 8-12 reps per set, 3-4 sets. Tips: these are called skull crushers but be sure to avoid actually crushing your skull!! Dont let your elbows fly out wide. Elbows should be up and towards the feet. No noodle arms!!
