Mr. Maestas was my high school Spanish teacher. He was a quiet, - TopicsExpress

Mr. Maestas was my high school Spanish teacher. He was a quiet, proper sort of man...always in a perfectly pressed suit and tie, well-organized and methodical in his pedagogy. He was my teacher for three years of Spanish, and would have been for the fourth if he had been teaching that class. He had some quirky little behaviors--like playing LP records for us while we were taking tests--sometimes popular Spanish language ballads, occasionally an LP of the story of the death of the famous bullfighter, Manolete. But his favorite was a record of Mike Nichols and Elaine May doing some of their comedy skits, and of these, this one--his favorite. To this day, I can recall his playing this particular cut, and we would all stop and watch him silently laughing so hard that his whole face turned red. Anyway, I just poked around online and found Mr. Maestass favorite Mike Nichols and Elaine May skit. Here it is. I find myself still laughing after all these years. RIP, Mike Nichols... vimeo/13423347
