Mr. Mayor, I used to work with one of your nephews several years ago at a call center and hope you will do something about the incident that happened to myself and my son tonight when we had a run in with a corrupt and very emotionally unstable trike driver. Based upon Google Maps our location is exactly 2.5km from SM Clark. Ive frequently visit SM Clark and have been for years. I always pay P100 peso for the fare where as most people only pay 50P for the fare. Which is inline with Angeles City Trike Matrix Code 280-S 2008. Since Dau Homesite and SM Clark are within different zones based upon the distance the correct fare would only be P50, which is what all of my neighbors claim they only pay as well as the local trike drivers who service this area state that most people only pay 50. I am very generous and usually give double the rate no matter where I go. Tonight, we had a Trike Driver with License trike number FEDTODA A.C 1-0629 BOTDA drive myself and my son home to Dau Homesite from SM. This is not the first time this has happened from SM but the 3rd of 4th time over the course of the past 2 years. I asked one of the last trike drivers that I used from SM not so long ago; if the P150 is a scam and he said it is and I told him the next time a Trike driver demands P150 from me, that I would report this and to tell his other co-workers to stop doing this. Tonight, I handed the trike driver P100 and he demanded P150. I told him I only pay P100 which is double what the Matrix code states and I am not paying triple the rate; that I would take a Taxi if I had to pay that much. He told me take a Taxi next time and threw the P100 at me and drove off. My next door neighbor is on the council for the DAU barangay council and she walked up too me as the trike driver drove off. I explained to her what happened and then a minute later the driver drives back up calling me bad names in front of my wife and neighbors. The neighbor who is on the Barangay Council tried to reason with the trike driver who was irate, emotional and now my family feared for our safety since he knows where we stay. The neighbor asked me to give her the P100 and when I did she handed it to the trike driver who tore the P100 into pieces and threw it on the ground. He then drove off. My wife and neighbor are going to the local Chairman in the morning to report this and possibly file a blotter. I am sick and tired of public transit threatening and intimidating people for rates that are unacceptable. I do not feel my family is safe now and I want something done about this once and for all. By law, these trike drivers are supposed to have the matrix posted in their trikes and none of them do. It is not enforced and it is not just foreigners complaining about trike drivers doing this. For the love of god, please initiate protocols to stamp this out and start with the drivers that are the biggest prey on Filipinos and foreigners alike and that is the ones in the malls and near the Fields area.
