Ms. Palin is pitiful. There is no substance in anything she states. Yet, she is the darling of the Tea Party Any time, I hear about her rants or other Tea Party Republicans, I wince. It makes me glad I am a Progressive. But, it also makes me melancholy to think that the party of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Taft and Eisenhower has sunk to such a low intellectual level unworthy of calling themselves Conservatives. . American needs a legitimate opposition party. The Republican Party is turning out to be a destructive force, not one that contributes to healthy debate in a democracy. (W.F. Buckley Jr. would have such caustic erudite words about them that they would cowering asking for mercy.) Ms. Palin is dead wrong. The Republican Party would be well served if the Tea Party separated and formed their own party. The Tea Party will be the death of the Republican Party if they do not eject this radical element. It represents a segment of our society which is a minority composed of middle age white people who are frightened of the emergence of a mufti-cultural America, climate change, restructuring of the labor force and what they think is traditional values. Unfortunately, the lackey leaders of the Tea Party (politicians, media etc.) supported by the One Percent are using this frightened group and care nothing about their welfare. Many are so brainwashed they dont see this.
