Mud in the face of the sponsors of IIJW for their crassness. I usually dont attend fashion shows anymore even when my close designer friends invite me because i find them a bit of a circus but for a good cause i go all the way out. SO i was there along with Kaveri to support the charity Beti- for the girl child (which is a noble and honest charity by dear friends Shashi Anu Ranjan) the behaviour of the sponsors security and staff of Grand Hyatt has left me reeling. Bad enough that we were left waiting endlessly to even enter the venue, or that we didnt even have chairs to sit , to refuse hungry children food or soft drinks (demanding that they get a coupon from the sponsor!!!) is the height of rude behaviour and tackiness. But why am i not surprised? Had i known P C jewellers are the main sponsors of the event i would have never gone .Because I have dealt with their cheapness before. When they had commissioned a few paintings from me a few years ago (through their architect Bobby Mukherjee) & refused to pay up I had obviously refused to send them the completed works. And only when i had threatened to sue them for misconduct when they repeatedly called up my then assistant Anita and told her "Arrey aap paintings ke saath aajao - hum aapko double keemat denge" (if you come along with the paintings I will give you double the price!!!) had they coughed up the money & taken delivery of the works. Money cant buy class. Gawaar hamesha gawaar hi rahenge
