Mud review: ~Buster Coming of Age Drama, starring Matthew McConaughey, Tye Sheridan, Sam Shepard, Reese Witherspoon and very limited screen time with Michael Shannon I knew very little going into Mud I just knew I wanted to watch it since McConaughey has been basically hitting home runs lately. I was surprised to see it was a coming of age film, I really like these just didnt expect this to be one. One of the reason I like them is that there is always relatable material to some degree, we were all young at one time. So Mud is about a couple of boys that meet a man on the run and get involved in his life along with the trouble that comes from this relationship. The story flows well and was interesting the whole time. The acting is great as well, McConaughey is of course good but the stand out performance comes from one of the boys, the one who gets in a few fights. He is just excellent and very believable, I was impressed and look forward to seeing him develop as an actor. There was about a ten minute stretch in the movie where I thought it was going to fail and head towards a very uninteresting ending. But Im glad to say that was not the case and it ends well. My only complaint is having Michael Shannon in this and basically not using him.
