My 2 cents worth: Funny how theres not money in the budget to restore the 7%. Funny how theres money to fund orientations primarily for recruiting providers into the union but not to pay for their criminal background checks. Funny how theres money for this bill but nothing to pay our workers for the real on-the-job training they do. Funny how theres money for this but theres no money to restore the almost $200 people on SSI are living without. Funny how theres money to fund these orientations that workers with other jobs or children to care for find burdensome. And Consumers find a hurdle in finding providers. Funny how we cant find money to fill in so many things the workers and consumers really suffer with but they can find money for these recruitment orientations.. Actually its not so funny So when money is found why doesnt it go to fund things that would ease the burden of workers and consumers?? And why is it that only the unions have access to having legislators write bills when supposedly we are the ones who elected them and we are the ones are supposed to be representing! This January were going to the legislature and do a novel thing. To ask them to author legislation that eases the burden of IHSS consumers and workers. They need to be writing legislation for the people they represent and by the way why arent the unions fighting to get parent and spouse provider Social Security credits so they dont age into poverty? Why is this Facebook page The only place where the needs of IHSS consumers and providers are being identified and asked for? We need to tell our legislators that we voted them in and we need them to start writing legislation about what we need, and not passing last-minute wish list gifts for the union? If the union were fighting for these things we needed we would be right alongside them. Thats the best way they could recruit workers. Show that they care by authoring legislation that alleviates our burdens. We want to work with the unions but we need to know that were not just pawns in their game but genuine equal partners with a mutual concern for the well-being of all who use and provide IHSS services. And we want to be at the table deciding those priorities and going after that legislation together. NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US!
