My INITIAL REMARKS ON NDC CONGRESS: 1. So if NDC people really believe they won 2012 fairly how come they have disgracefully kicked out two of the three main architects: Chairman and National Organiser? It was also about stomach infrastructure: cash for votes. What NDC used in 2012 to buy and steal the ballot. Mahama is determined to repeat same in 2016. But Kwabena Agyei warned, We cant use money again to buy the general electorate. GHC500 for a delegate per every Mahama candidate was the accusation flying around the Baba Yara Stadium Saturday. 2. After all the cash, it was a split deck. The Mahama Faction got Women, Youth, Chairman, and National Organiser. Mills people, the Fante group got Aseidu Nketia, Betty Mould, Ofosu Ampofo, Lee Ocran, Koku Anyidoho, Solomon Nkansah. Now the old fight for control of the party is back. This time it is the Mahama faction against the larger Mills group. 4. Aseidu Nketia and his team have long concluded that John Mahama is a liability for 2016. They cant risk changing him but believe that it is the party that can carry the candidates to victory and not the leader. So they are determined to not cede control of the election to the leader the nation cannot trust. They want to strengthen the party. The President and the Mahama faction want to buy the party. 5. The fact that the unknown challenger to Aseidu Nketia managed to get more than 600 votes has sparked regret among the Mahama faction in NDC. They regret not pushing through the high risk game they considered which was to sponsor their own formidable candidate against General Mosquito. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah was the obvious challenger until... but.. the Mahama faction now believes Aseidu Nketia has been severely weakened and are now planning on how to kick him out neatly but decisively. They want total control. 6. Portuphy and Aseidu Nketia will be interesting. Portuphy is convinced that Aseidu Nketia is all hype. He feels he is more experienced and more responsible for NDC previous elections than the General Secretary. He will be an executive chairman and he is determined to put the GS in his place. It will be a turf war between two mighty egos and their backers. 7. People, John Mahama has made it more than clear that he intends to rig the 2016 elections too. Portuphys campaign message was to boast that he has been responsible for all NDC election machinery. He is the man controlling the alleged rigging machinery. The alleged Master Rigger. In fact, that is his nickname among his own people. NDC intends to rig 2016 again. It is up to Ghanaians to allow them or not to. 8. Aseidu Nketia, you gave your word to quit if this happened. Now Kofi Adams is in. Will you be a principled man and do the honourable thing? After all Flagstaff House wants you out. Jump before you are frustrated to jump. 9. Ivor Greenstreet spoke for millions of Ghanaians, including those who voted for NDC. All he did was to ask the President to care and run the country for the wellbeing of all Ghanaians. What he got were insults for his troubles. Sam George insulted him for being confined to a wheelchair; Babgin described him as being possessed by demons, as if being disabled was a curse. The President added more insults to the injury by saying people like the CPP General Secretary suffer from selective myopia. But who has shown serious symptoms of selective myopia? Is not a president who appears to be shortsighted and further more chooses to limit and focus his sights only on himself and on what is good for the people who are around him? 10. Most shocking of all is Rawlings hypocrisy. He never stopped accusing poor Mills of corruption. Now that everybody accepts that corruption is at its worst the probity and accountability man has also been hit by selective myopia. Signed Hon Maxwell Kofi Jumah
