My Rating: 6.5/10 (Sherlins Rating: 5/10) If the aim of this remake was simply to update the franchise for a modern audience, then I think it has succeeded (somewhat); but judged in terms of pure mindless entertainment, I think it falls a bit short. ------------------------- Script/Direction: 2/3 Less action than I expected; Sherlin found it boring (too much talking.) Overall, I like the way the script approached the story and its various themes (not dumbing down but also not overdoing it), although it does suffer a bit from uneven pacing. Cast/Acting: 1.5/3 Not much acting going on here, just actors rattling off lines. I think they got the cast a little mixed up: Samuel L. Jackson should play the gangsta boss and Gary Oldman should play the talk-show host. Production/Effects: 2/3 I dont really like the look of the new suit (doesnt look robotic enough), but I think thats the intention. Some parts of the action (where Robocop fights those mecha things) look a little sped up and fake. But generally, the production looks good. Special/Other: 1/1 Not bad as remakes go, but the film doesnt tell the whole story. Put another way: you know thats not the end of the story and theres certainly a lot more to be told, but you know it was necessary to tell this part first. Ergo: a sequel is needed, and desired.
