My Spelman sister Jean Harvey summarized how I feel about the title. Clearly, I need to write the headlines and captions, Upworthy is failing in this area. SOCIETAL FORCES. Said Jean I really wish that folks could write better headlines - and captions. I saw this posted by several friends and passed it over thinking whatever. And I didnt click the link because I dont need any more silly comments about being black or black life experiences. And it had such a silly headline! Surely it was link bait. But then I stopped and watched the video (after a few more days had passed and more people had posted it). And it was smart and considered, and a thoughtful commentary on an under examined comment by a very smart man. And it reminded me that perhaps a post with a more detailed statement might rally others to click and listen. Maybe it will. Very smart men have said less. Heres an opportunity to hear more.
