My State appointed optometrist recently told me about Dr. Phillip C. Hessburg, MD, an ophthalmologist and Medical Director at the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology / Henry Ford Department of Ophthalmology. He also sees the prejudice with which all States treat low visioned people as drivers--even the statistics show our presence on the road has not resulted in an increase in the total number of accidents that occur nationwide. That being said, what do you think is the reason why one State requires a higher visual acuity standard to be eligible for a drivers license than other States? Think about it.
