My academic work is very polarizing. As a result, there are many people from various intellectual and religious ciphers - mainly non-academics - who would like to impugn my scholarship. These folk are not just critical of a particular scholarly conclusion that I have come to or even a set of conclusions. Rather, they - these non-academics - would have you believe that I in fact lack expertise, that my scholarship in general is shabby or not up to par, etc. Mind you, most or all of these persons are not thoroughly conversant with my body of work. Nonetheless, I actually invite critical analysis of my scholarship, of my scholarly approach and methods, of my access to and use of source materials, my scholarly integrity and objectivity, etc. The difference between claims of scholarship vs. claims of revelation is this: a persons claim to have been inspired by God - from the street corner preachers to the mega church pastors - must ultimately be subjectively accepted or rejected, whereas ones pretense to scholarship can be objectively vetted by a recognized community according to a set of standards. So I offer for critical review these 7 works which I consider to best represent my scholarly credentials; they best represent my scholarly methods, approach, and success (or failure!). In short: they define Dr. Wesley Muhammads scholarship. I hang my scholarly hat on these works, and if my methods and integrity as evidenced here do not pass muster, then my scholarship stands appropriately impugned. Note: A critical analysis of my scholarly methods and integrity IZ NOT the same thing as adamantly disagreeing with my perspectives or conclusions. 1.] A Body Unlike Bodies: Transcendent Anthropomorphism in Ancient Semitic Tradition and Early Islam https://academia.edu/5259409/A_Body_Unlike_Bodies_Transcendent_Anthropomorphism_in_Ancient_Semitic_Tradition_and_Early_Islam 2.] God Among the Gods: Divine Plurality in the Quran in the Light of Biblical and Ancient Near Eastern Mythic Tradition https://academia.edu/5259438/God_Among_the_Gods_Divine_Plurality_in_the_Quran_in_the_Light_of_Biblical_and_Ancient_Near_Eastern_Mythic_Tradition 3.] Sapphiric God: Esoteric Speculation on the Divine Body in Post-Biblical Jewish Tradition https://academia.edu/5259488/Sapphiric_God_Esoteric_Speculation_on_the_Divine_Body_in_Post-Biblical_Jewish_Tradition 4.] Ifa and Islam as Sibling Rivals: The Black Arabian Origins of the Yoruba https://academia.edu/5258917/Ifa_and_Islam_as_Sibling_Rivals_The_Black_Arabian_Origins_of_the_Yoruba 5.] “Anyone who says that the Prophet is black should be killed”: The De-Arabization of Islam and the Transfiguration of Muhammad in Islamic Tradition https://academia.edu/5259303/_Anyone_who_says_that_the_Prophet_is_black_should_be_killed_The_De-Arabization_of_Islam_and_the_Transfiguration_of_Muhammad_in_Islamic_Tradition 6.] Prophet Muhammad and the Black Arabs: The Witness of Pre-Modern Chinese Sources https://academia.edu/5259332/Prophet_Muhammad_and_the_Black_Arabs_The_Witness_of_Pre-Modern_Chinese_Sources 7.] Tajallī wa-Ru’ya: A Study of Anthropomorphic Theophany and Visio Dei in the Hebrew Bible, the Qur’ān and Early Sunnī Islam https://academia.edu/5259364/Tajalli_wa-Ruya_A_Study_of_Anthropomorphic_Theophany_and_Visio_Dei_in_the_Hebrew_Bible_the_Quran_and_Early_Sunni_Islam
