My definition of a CROWN: Its been an incredible journey since - TopicsExpress

My definition of a CROWN: Its been an incredible journey since I was crowned Mrs. North America Globe 2013 on stage in Palm Springs, CA. I was then moved to the 2014 title due to a small glitch in the organization. I found my positive in all of this by telling myself I get to be a titleholder for two consecutive years:) When entering my first Mrs. pageant in 2011 in Louisville, KY I did it to be a voice to those who do not have one. I am an adopted mother of 4 children and any orphans eyes I look into I see a path my kids could have taken. I obtained my first degree in pharmacy school and enjoy lobbying for better healthcare for all. The pageant world started opening doors for me in that pursuit. I am an only child and lost both parents to cancer. I have seen many times that this devastating disease doesnt discriminate who it takes. The crown has allowed me to reach out to the American Heart Association, Mental Health of America of Ky, and many, many more. Volunteering is one of the most important ways to give back and thank God for the life you have. Being a huge lover of animals, and rescuing many since I was young....the pageant world allowed me to meet some really special people and experience a lot of incredible rescue stories. The group that has my heart is The Arrow Fund in Louisville, Ky....I met them in the Rotunda in Frankfort, KY while I stood with some of the most amazing people and a beautiful dog named Roman...all gathered to lobby for a law that makes animal cruelty a felony in Ky. When my father passed away many years ago, I was thrown into a mans world when I decided to continue a couple of businesses he had created and operated. To say the least I was not received well at first, or taken very seriously. I realized at that point the importance of stepping up and empowering other women and becoming a voice to those who dont have one. This was actually my words when asked by the Globe organization how I wanted to express myself under my photo on the Mrs. Globe website a year ago. In our society men often have each others backs while too many women attack each other. Some even attack those who have done the most for them. I am so thankful to God for getting the opportunity to experience the Power of the Crown. For some, its a symbol....for others it creates determination within and encourages endless struggles to make our world a better place. Many, many women have worn a crown....women with different talents, backgrounds, style, shapes, sizes, and ages. We always stop and notice the outside of that woman. But truly, its what that is inside that woman that counts. Its the integrity she has and the example she set for others as she obtains her goals. As my year comes to an end as Mrs. North America Globe, I am so thankful for the amazing women I have met and for the opportunities God has Blessed me with. Like every experience in life, my time with Globe has presented itself with many learning opportunities, a close look at who my true friends are, the chance to make a difference, and experiencing things you cannot change. As I look forward to 2015, I am both humbled and excited to learn what God has planned:)
