My email to the people at halloweenpart13 selling the Anna Rexia costume bounced back, so I wanted to share it here. Its frustrating to see the indifference and insensitivity of companies trying to make a dollar. --------------------------------------------------- To whom it may concern, Youve probably received plenty of angry hate emails expressing outrage over the sale of the Anna Rexia costume. I dont want to write anything hateful, but just wanted to give you some facts about eating disorders that plagues approximately 70 million people worldwide: - 1 in 5 women struggle with an eating disorder. - 15% of people who struggle with anorexia or bulimia are male. - 90% of those who have eating disorders have them between the ages of 12 and 25. - Male athletes like football players and wrestlers are especially susceptible in having an eating disorder. - 80% of all children have been on a diet by the time they reach 4th grade. - 20% of people suffering from anorexia will prematurely die from complications related to their eating disorder, including suicide and heart problems. I could go on and on, but you get the point. Anorexia and other eating disorders affect a great number of people and your costume thats still for sale is extremely offensive and triggering to many.
