My father-in-law is 90 and easily falls prey to mail order offers. - TopicsExpress

My father-in-law is 90 and easily falls prey to mail order offers. He just sent us completely worthless coins from American Mint that cost him $3400. My question is how to get him to stop. My husband doesnt want to take away his freedom, but I feel like we should reduce his credit card limit or something. Is there a gentle but firm way to get him to stop shopping for junk? He wont listen to reason and if you tell him about one place being unscrupulous or a waste, he just moves on to another. (Also - Im still trying to figure out how to get help in trying to get American Mint to bend their 30-day return window - isnt there a NY Times column called the Mediator or something? Any tips would be helpful on that front...)
