My first slow-cooker meal of winter: Inch-and-a-half thick pork - TopicsExpress

My first slow-cooker meal of winter: Inch-and-a-half thick pork chops with apples, leek, taters, paprika, garlic, white wine, mustard, carrots and parsnips. (I also snuck a whole hot red chilli down the side, just to add a tiny kick.) It still has an hour and 30 minutes left to go. I skipped lunch in anticipation, and now my mouth is watering, the smell is making my neighbours wander the corridors looking for the source, and Copa is sitting on the very edge of the allowed space at the kitchen boundary, dripping saliva on the tiles and looking at me like I must be the biggest idiot in the world. CANT YOU SMELL THAT? her face is saying. ARE YOU NOSE-BLIND? I hope my will-power holds out. Otherwise Im going to be in the hospital from gorging myself on undercooked pork.
