My friend Claire, has told me how she has had many a drink at the Pegasus Bridge - she is married to a Frenchman. She reminds me of when (and I had no idea until years later) I was digging a Gallo-Roman site at Troufreville, nr Caen during the 50th anniversary of D Day in 1994. We were told that the site was a German strong point. Well, it turned out my Grandpa and his Unit took on the Hitler Youth on the very spot! How bizarre is that!
