My friends are always so reluctant to tell me if they are taking government assistance for anything. I dont care if you take government assistance of any sort - I encourage it! What Im against is the taxation that funds it (both explicit taxation and implicit taxation such as credit creation by the Federal Reserve). Both forms of taxation will whittle away at your prosperity for your entire life to such a significant degree that even if you seemingly pay low taxes (such as the people that dont pay any federal income tax) you will always give more of your earnings to the government in some form or another than you will gain in return from the benefits they dole out as justification for robbing you. As long as youre not advocating theft, I think you should absolutely take as much of your money back as youre capable of. Just dont start acting as if the guy who quietly robbed you of $100 is a saint for loudly returning $10, and dont advocate the continuation of theft for the purpose of continuing your benefits. Thats what Ill call you out for. Aside from that, I dont think its standing on principle to deny government benefits when youre being robbed regardless.
