My greatful challenge I want to be sincerely grateful for my mum. I vividly remember this day we were having rehearsals for our KCPE in the early 90s and there was a lot of tension in our village due to land clashes in burnt forest. We had slept in the maize plantation the previous night. We were young and this did not bother me a lot i was just focused on sitting my exam while we were preparing up our desks in readiness for the exam someone came and said I had to rush home. I panicked and run as fast as possible. A long the way I met people who were fleeing the area even the crippled people were being carried in wheelbarrow I panicked. adeadly rumour had gone round, of a pending attack that night. At home I found mum sitting on a big luggage all my siblings were dressed ready to leave. My mum saw me and tried to wear a strong face. She said I would have stayed with you but for the sake of this young ones please my God protect you as you stay behind. She said I should stay with my aunt for the 3 days. my aunt stayed 5km away from home I was so shaken by this but my brothers were so young they needed protection in fact one was still breastfeeding so I agreed and bade them good bye. Composed my self and went back to school to continue my rehearsals but in my mind I decided I would come back home. In the evening I came home only to find mama at home. she had taken the children to some distant relative and came back to be with me in my exam period. She left her breastfeeding baby and was with me for 3 days. Thank you mum am greatful for that sacrifice she made me feel warm in our hiding place in the maize plantation I cant imagine what would come of me if she did not come back to me. Thank you mum.
