My heart is so heavy right now.....Is this America??? Armored personnel carriers, tear gas, cars on fire....All over a bad decision, actually several bad decisions by several people...Mike Brown was an 18 year old kid doing stupid, 18 year old kid stuff....NO ONE alive can say that they didnt do something stupid when they were 18. Darren Wilson made a decision to let fear motivate him to use deadly force on a child that was bigger than him. Baton?? Pepper spray?? Tazer???? Why were none of these used? Why was his service pistol his first option??? Photographs taken of him after the confrontation with Brown, show NO injuries consistent with the need for use of deadly force. Several witnesses stated that he shot Brown as he ran away from him and he shot him again, firing while advancing toward him, after Brown turned around. It is my belief that he shot him because he was scared, not in fear for his life, but scared. There is a difference and the former does not merit death. Do we need to teach our children to respect law enforcement? Absolutely, but as parents we should also have reasonable reassurance that law enforcement will protect our children, in spite of their actions, when possible. I have 3 black sons, including one that is uncharacteristically large for his age. This womans son was left dead, in the STREET, for 4.5 hours! Is this what our children are worth?????? Shot down in the street like a dog and just left there like roadkill?? Mike Brown was 64, 292 lbs....Kaynan is only 11 and is already 53 and 135 lbs. If he has a bad day, does he deserve to die because an inexperienced officer gets scared and doesnt know how to properly subdue him and gain control over a bad situation ???? When we devalue ONE human life, we devalue ALL human life....And I will protect my children with my LIFE, at all costs, no matter what, until my dying breath! This is my opinion, these are my feelings, and this is my page. If you disagree, please be advised you should do so respectfully and with tact......I see some very tacky, classless status updates since the verdict. I am not going to delete you, that would relegate you to keeping with the same mentality that got us here in the first place. We are a country divided and until we learn to disagree constructively and meet in the middle for the greater good of EVERYONE involved, we (The HUMAN race) will never get anywhere.
