My kids are amazing! So... After riding our bikes home from school with our neighbors, Cole wanted to stay and play while I picked up Liam. After I got back we headed home and Cole noticed that the driveway was full of grass from when I mowed this afternoon. Out of nowhere he asked for a broom to clean up the grass. It took him about 25 minutes. When he came in smiling and not asking for any kind of reward, I looked in my purse for a couple of bucks to give him for his unsolicited willingness to do hard work. I could only find a dollar. When I made an off hand remark about thinking I had more money than that he told me to wait and that he would be right back. He returned a minute later with $20 from his piggy bank. He handed it to me saying, "this is for you because your need is greater than mine". My sweet amazing boy. I refused his money, of course. The sentiment filled my heart with so much joy and love that it brought tears to my eyes. I will never understand how I became so fortunate to be his mother.
