My reason for starting rescue was actually because of a phone call I recieved from Hayley Smith!!! Yes Hayley I blame you lol.... She had seen an ad on pets4homes for a poodle boy for £120 which seemed very cheap and made me question why? I called the number and the lady agreed to meet me only on neutral territory which as we all know is a big no no, my heart was already sold to this boy and I got in the car and drove for an hr to collect him.... James Lea my partner at this time as well as Rosemary Redwood are both aware of the state this poodle arrived in. I have pics too. Dougle as we named him was screaming with fear as he was got out of the car and handed to me, hes eyes were inmfected, he was crawling with biting lice and it took 3 mths of rehab and time to realise Dougle needed a home where someone was around all day and could provide the things I couldnt.... He was rehomed for a small donation and we still remain in contact now.... It became apparent very quickly that dogs sold on gumtree Facebook preloved and pets4homes are at risk due to know licensing and checks.... You only have to browse ads today to see 100s of dogs inc tiny puppies being given away or sold so cheap that people buy them on a whim then rehome them for even less a week later.... If you sell a puppy for £100, that person will sell for £50/£60 once pups weed on carpet and cries at night for a week, baiters are paying this amount to use for fighting. In the last 18 mths I have watched these sites and offered rescue space to 1000s of dogs, most want the money and will only sell, some are greatful..... I have rescued multiple dogs from the first lady I mentioned who now thanks to the help of Tracey Vickery and Sue Davey is in the process of being shut down ...... More too follow
