My take on the new Rouses for those of you who didnt make it there today. Parking wasnt so bad. I just followed someone to their car. Works every time. Reminded me of Whole Foods with a Louisiana feel. Hot Food Bar. Salad Bar. Olive Bar. Sushi Bar. BBQ Bar. Fruit Bar. Panini Bar. Most sold by the pound. We ate from the BBQ bar. It was very good. The sausage was clearly made in house. Excellent. Sides could have been better...a little dried out. But thats to be expected. They had a make your own peanut butter area which was pretty cool. Too bad Im not a huge PB fan. I thought the butcher area would be a little bigger and I find it a little klunky to maneuver through the coffin cases in that area. The seafood area was nice. Very fresh and focused on local products. The produce area was nice. Very similar to WF. Some organic things and some local items. Obviously it means nothing to me but the wine area seemed bigger than most areas of the store. I thought they could have better utilized that space, but it could be bc I dont drink. There was also a florist and a decent sized frozen food section...about the size of WM. The most impressive part of the store were the employees. Super nice people from the owners all the way to the custodians. Prices: well I will use the old adage: you get what you pay for. I would rather put money into local businesses than national chains any day. Sale items were scarce but they did have a few good values. Overall it will be nice to have something that provides quality meat & produce close to home. And again kudos to the employees! Kindness is worth more than most things these days.
