My #tbt is from the long-ago year of 2008, but dont worry, its got some seriously old stuff in it. In 2008, William took me to my very first Burning Man. We rode around the desert with Lauren in a 1966 Volkswagen Beetle which had been rebuilt into a flame-spouting snail¹. The snails creator took us to see another art piece hed built called After Dissipate², consisting of five tiny trenches dug into the playa surface, each about six inches wide. Basically impossible to find unless someone brought you there, the artist explained his tiny trenches were actually a miniature-scale reproduction of another artists work: five huge trenches dug into the playa surface forty years earlier in 1968 in the same Black Rock Desert we were standing on³.
