My whole thing with this is that I have had dogs wander onto my property. I remember one time when my kids were little, I was home by myself, and had a gun and the dog definitely looked very unfriendly and would not leave my yard. Know what I did? What anyone who has a compassionate heart would do, called the sheriffs department, who got me in touch with freaking animal control, and kept myself and my children in the house and away from the dog until they showed up! It was not that hard to do, they showed up within a fairly timely manner, and it was Sunday to boot. Ive known guys like this my whole life though, and he is a cold hearted jerk with an itchy trigger finger, just longing to have an excuse to fire off that weapon and feel powerful. I own a gun too, but last time I checked dogs cant open doors on their own, and a little bit of compassion and common sense wouldve seen this story with a different ending. Oh and for those that want to blame the owner, it says right in the article that someone else was supposed to be watching her dog when it got loose, which I have had happen to me and really, really sucks. Shit happens and you pray for people to be helpful, but more and more guys like this are who you end up dealing with instead.
