Myofascial pain stems from a distortion in the matrix of the fascial net. Fascial tissue organizes in a variety of patterns to accommodate muscle and skeletal movement. The weaving of fascial tissue at the shoulder girdle is organized differently than at the the area of the achilles tendon and calf muscle. Distortions to the matrix due to injury or aberration can result in changes to muscle and skeletal movement which can lead to some type of dysfunction. Too often myofascial pain is equated with muscle or joint injury. Therapies such as Rolfing directly work to help reorganize fascial tissue as well as aid the realignment of joints and muscle position. bobalonzi-advanced-rolfer
