NARCOTICS UNIT AND AIR-1 SPOT TWO DIFFERENT MARIJUANA GROWING OPERATIONS Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two individuals for separate and unrelated marijuana growing operations. Monday, September 16, the Erie County Sheriff’s Narcotic Detectives, working with the Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, spotted two marijuana fields in the Southtowns. The first field was discovered in the Town of North Collins off of Langford Road. The second field was spotted in the Town of Collins on Brewer Road. Narcotics Detectives charged Howard Smith, III, 52 of North Collins, with a felony count of Criminal Possession of Marijuana and a misdemeanor for Unlawfully Growing Cannabis. The Detectives harvested over 50 large, mature plants from a field; the plants are considered high grade contraband. Town of Collins resident, David Kehr, 23, was arrested after Detectives ripped out nearly 40 mature marijuana plants from a plot of land near his residence. Kehr was charged with a felony count of Criminal Possession of Marijuana and a misdemeanor for Unlawfully Growing Cannabis. The street value of the plants after processing is estimated around $10,000 - $15,000. Each is scheduled to appear in their respective town courts today.
