NATIONAL SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2016-2030 PUBLIC FORUM - Everyone is invited! A Public Forum on the National Sustainable Development Plan (NSDP) will be held from 16-20 June 2014. Held at the Chief’s Nakamal in Vila, as part of an ongoing consultative process for a national development framework to take the place of the current Priorities and Action Agenda (PAA) in 2016, this inaugural Public Forum seeks to create a consultative platform for the public and all stakeholders to contribute towards the development of a common vision and goal for Sustainable Development in Vanuatu for the next 15 years. The Hon. Prime Minister of Vanuatu, Hon. Joe Natuman, will deliver the opening statement and the first day will focus on the journey to-date with a critical review of Vanuatu’s national development planning since independence, introduce the concept of sustainable development, and review the consultations that have taken place thus far. Following the opening and overview on the Monday, the forum will focus on a development theme for each day, giving the opportunity to the civil society, the private sector and the public at large to present their views. The themes are as follows: - Tuesday 17th June: Economic Development - Wednesday 18th June: Social Development - Thursday 19th June: Environment Development and priorities - Friday 20th June: Cultural Development and priorities. Focused discussions around each theme will be encouraged after each session, opening the forum for comments by all in attendance. The forum is split into two parts each day to allow for maximum participation from the public. From 8am to 12pm each day the full morning is dedicated to civil society panels and open forum discussions. The Chiefs’ Nakamal will be re-opened once again each afternoon at 5pm for the private sector and government officials to make their contribution as well. Members of the media will be invited to a press conference to re-cap the main points that were raised during the morning panel discussions. Feedback forms circulated in newspapers and available at the forum may be filled in and submitted up to a week after the forum closes on 20 June. All are welcome to take part in listening and sharing during the morning and/or evening sessions of the week-long Public Forum. THE PROGRAM IS ATTACHED.
