***NC EAST UPDATE - FEES FOR SERVICE CALLS AND TRANSPORTS REDUCED*** North Carolina Equine Assistance and Specialized Transport (NC EAST) held a Board of Directors meeting on March 4th and one of the topics of discussion was how we could better serve the equine and veterinary community. We have a wide variety of specialized equipment and a team of highly trained volunteers but over the years we have not be requested to assist with many farm/barn calls for assistance or transport. The Board of Directors unanimously agreed to re-evaluate the current assessed fees for service calls and transports. The fees that NC EAST had implemented when the transition from MCEERU occurred in January were the same fees that MCEERU had charged over the past couple of years. We hope that the recommendations that were made and the fee reductions that were voted on will allow for more equine owners and enthusiasts as well as veterinary professionals to utilize our services, equipment and training to assist them with there equine related emergency or non-emergency requests for assistance and/or transport and ultimately allow NC EAST to make a difference in an equines and equine owners life. NC EAST is a 501c3 Non-Profit organization, however the donations of supplies, equipment, or funding have been minimal. In order to provide the services we do, we have operating expenses (insurance policies, equipment and vehicle maintenance, fuel, registrations/taxes, etc.) that need to be paid, therefore we must charge for services rendered in order to make sure that this specialized resource will continue to be around for years to come.
