NEW ADMINISTRATORS For Socrates on Facebook: Amy Eitz & Kathy J Ebert have agreed to be Co-Administrators of our civil debate group. Please give them the same respect you have given me. I am confident that they will bring SOF to new heights and make it a truly civil debate group that I envisioned! We are over 2,600 members strong; and people are requesting membership every day. I need the assistance from these two ladies. And I thank them for stepping up to take on this responsibility. NEW RULE: We are making our first change by requiring that new members do not have a fake profile. Much of our trouble has come from these fakers. For the current fake profiles, we are going to grandfather you in but be civil or you will be warned; and if you continue to cause trouble and not remain civil, you will be kicked out. For new members, if it is very important that you have anonymity because of your employer or something, then make your case to the administrators; and we will make a decision in your case. If you chose to become uncivil, you will first be given a warning. If you continue to be uncivil or call members names, or use directed profanity, or use the F bomb, you may be placed on probation for a week or so, or the administrator may simply delete and ban you permanently. Please cooperate with our administrators. I have given them the authority to make independent or joint decisions on member’s violations. As I have written: “We expect clashing ideas, openness, and a learning experience. We ask for civil discussion; therefore, we will not accept hate, directed profanity, directed antisemitism, racism, bigotry, or name calling. We will not tolerate gratuitous profanity like throwing around the F. bomb! It adds nothing to civil debate. SOF is a serious endeavor and must be different from the usual traffic on face book.”
