Club Cafe: Sat Jan 11 Early Show: The Mixus Brothers CD Release! w/ Again the Bandits On Sale Sat at 10am via: tktwb.tw/HKf67x The Mixus Brothers have been playing their mixture of Indie-Folk/Alt-Country music since 2011 when Red Mixus(Johnny Willett) and Jebbh Mixus (Jacob Stempky) discovered their musical pasts made a strong combination. With their album Westward The Tide released in November of 2012, they showed they were capable of writing, recording and producing a blend of songs that would appeal to most folks. The albums review in Dec. 2012 issue of Pittsburghs City Paper described their music as a hazy, chilled-out blend of folk rock and alt-country which provides the backdrop for the two vocalists high and super-low harmonies. The brothers shine on their more heavily folk-influenced, foot-stompin tracks. With their second album To The Far Blue Mountains upcoming release in December of 2013,The Mixus Brothers are out to prove there is no sophomore slump from this duo. With influences such as Syd Barrett, Beck, The Flaming Lips, Graham Nash and The Osborne Brothers, the songs weave a pattern of melody and music that few past and current Pittsburgh bands can mimic.
