NEWS Lion Hank dabbled in journalism today … seems Lion Mollie had ‘dragon disease’ too … told the reporter ‘oh crock’ .. or something along those lines when asked about her on her day .. so far .. obviously not too swell .. Lion Paul was also in the dumps .. took a weeks vacation hoping to golf … rained on him .. . Lion Joe was glad to be back in sunny Modesto .. been cloistered in Connecticut and the Azores .. . even brought a gift … ‘Portuguese Tanning Cream’ .. which Lion Jim PROGRAM Lion Paul introduced Bill Zoslocki, a LIGA International pilot, Vice President of STANCO and a City Council candidate.. Bill holds Commercial & Instrument Ratings. His interest in flying was precipitated by a ‘discussion’ with Downey High School Counselor George Pettigrew. Sometime during the lecture he noticed a flyer reading ‘Learn to Fly for $6’ .. Pettigrew directed him to Gottschalks and … the rest is history .. Bill cleaned aircraft for 14 hours to get 1 hour of flying time .. considered himself the luckiest kid in the world and he achieved his Private Pilot License at age 17. He and his wife Cathy still fly and he has donated many trips for medical personnel deep into Mexico where they provide much needed services to otherwise neglected folks. The flight in his 200 mph turbo charged Bonanza A‐36 takes 5‐6 hours with a stop‐over in Obregon [just south of Guaymas] for ‘paperwork’ .. then a short hope to El Fuerte where the real work begins. Bill and Cathy, along with the passengers who do the work, usually go on the first week‐end of each month October ‐ June to avoid the monsoon season in Mexico. They have had several good flying adventures in spite of this caution. Bill once landed in his birth city of Calexico with a 15’ rollout due to very strong headwinds. He noted that often he sees the masked Federales and likewise masked cartel folks in and around Sinaloa. They do not bother him or the medical folks . His airfield at El Fuerte has had bunkers and is sometimes closed to stop drug traffic Bill finds these trips interesting and the sight of mostly young children getting medical aid very rewarding and emotional. Thanks Bill for your service!! could Have used .. he went to Hawaii but had to keep his ‘fair Dutch skin’ inside … he was sporting the traditional ‘Dutch Tan’ … all pink … Lion Tim went to LA to see Diana Krall at the Greek Theater but had no idea who she was … or where he was .. the level of sophistication here is overwhelming … finally, the whole Pankow‐Baker clan is greeting the Gregori Volleyball season with enthusiasm … Kub Kellie and the Jaguars are off top a good start … 1‐0
