The Summit kicked-off with the formal oath-taking of the duly-elected officials of the Zambales Association of Career Advocates, Inc. (ZACAI) as administered by Director Dione. DepEd Zambales Schools Division Superintendent Director, Dr. Zenia G. Mostoles, meanwhile, provided an insight of “Career Advocates” as well as their role in the society. Zambales TESDA Provincial Director Elizabeth Manio, who expressed her full support to the program of the career advocates in the province, shared TESDA’s Dual Training System (DTS), Scholarship Programs, as well as its other various tech-voch skills development and training programs. DOLE Zambales Field Office head Reynante Lugtu, on the other hand, provided an overview of the region’s current Labor Market Information (LMI). Governor Ebdane, who emphasized the role of parents as far as guiding their children in choosing the right career paths said in his keynote message that they should not influence too much nor decide for their childrens choice of career. “Our children already know their capabilities and talents. While we are here to teach and guide them in making the right decisions, let’s also give them the personal opportunity to choose the careers they wish to pursue, provided that they would carefully plan for themselves, because I believe that if you’re happy with what you are doing, you can be successful in life,” Ebdane said. The Summit was even filled with more enthusiasm when Honorable guest speaker, newly-appointed DOLE Undersecretary for Employment and Manpower Cluster Reydeluz D. Conferido, delivered his talk on Career Guidance Towards Decent and Productive Employment. In his lecture, Conferido highlighted the DOLE’s various flagship programs for the youth geared towards career and job-enrichment such as the recently implemented JobStart Program, Government Internship Program (GIP), and the well-known Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES). He likewise stressed the importance of choosing the right career as well as having a sense of flexibility in response to the needs of new emerging industries in the country. “In recent years, we have noticed various news industries sprouting all over country. Now, more than ever, is the right time for us to prepare our youths for the in-demand jobs that will be needed by these new industries present in our country,” Conferido said, adding: “However, we must likewise learn how to be adaptive to this changing world of works by adjusting to these realities, especially to the needs of our country. I urge our youths not to just look for work, rather, look for work which your country needs and perhaps be what your country wants you to be.” END/Jerry Borja with reporting from PESO Zambales
