**NEWSFLASH!!** Facebook just announced two very important news feed updates: 1) A reduction in click-baiting headlines (yay!) 2) LINK posts (with the preview intact like this post) will get MORE priority over status updates or photo posts that contain links! Yippee, link posts are getting more reach. This is HUGE, folks! So many Page owners publish mostly photo posts (with links) because photo posts used to get the best reach. Its a new playing field, now. You have to adjust your approach as Facebook tweaks the algorithms. (I love him dearly, but one such page that posts almost 100% photos with links is Richard Branson. I need to give him a quick call to let him know he might want to change up his strategy! hehee) Plus, remember that the new SAVE feature on Facebook only lets users save LINK POSTS (from news feed, on desktop or mobile). See this post for more info: marismith/5-things-businesses-need-to-know-about-facebooks-new-save-feature/ Re #1 (click-baiting), check this out! Facebook says, when we asked people in an initial survey what type of content they preferred to see in their News Feeds, 80% of the time people preferred headlines that helped them decide if they wanted to read the full article before they had to click through. ...and, Over time, stories with “click-bait” headlines can drown out content from friends and Pages that people really care about. Mhm! Re #2 (link posts), Facebook states, We’ve found that people often prefer to click on links that are displayed in the link format (which appears when you paste a link while drafting a post), rather than links that are buried in photo captions. The link format shows some additional information associated with the link, such as the beginning of the article, which makes it easier for someone to decide if they want to click through. This format also makes it easier for someone to click through on mobile devices, which have a smaller screen. With this update, we will prioritize showing links in the link-format, and show fewer links shared in captions or status updates. WOOHOO. What do you think of these two tweaks?? #FacebookNews #NewsFeed #FacebookTips #FacebookMarketing
